Winter Storm Watch Starts Tonight, Chains required on I-90, (2-23-19, 4:30 a.m.)

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the Kittitas Valley, Yakima Valley, Lower Columbia Basin of Washington, and foothills of the Blue Mountains of Washington. A Winter Storm Watch means that there is potential for significant snow, sleet, or ice accumulations that may impact travel. The watch, which will be in effect from tonight, Saturday, through early Wednesday morning, is in conjunction with a forecast for a long-duration winter storm, expected to impact much of the region with total snow accumulations of 4 to 7 inches possible. NWS also urges drivers to plan for slippery roads and hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commutes.

The Washington State Department of Transportation continues to require chains on all vehicles traveling in either direction over Snoqualmie Pass, where it is snowing. The only exception is for all-wheel-drive vehicles. Oversize vehicles are prohibited.
