Lion Rock Visiting Writers Series event to feature Katharine Whitcomb

Central Washington University professor and accomplished poet Katharine Whitcomb will kick off the winter events in the Lion Rock Visiting Writers Series on Wednesday, January 31, at the Brooks Library Student Commons.
Whitcomb will begin with a craft talk at noon called "Let Your Writing Find Its Form," followed by a 6 p.m. reading from her new poetry collection, Habitats. CWU student Monica Monk will provide an introduction and reading. A book signing will follow after the reading.
Virtual attendance will be offered for those who cannot attend the Lion Rock events in-person. Just follow the links provided on the CWU events calendar. Each of Wednesday’s events are free and open to the public.
Whitcomb, who serves as a Distinguished Professor of Creative Writing in the CWU English Department, earned her Master of Fine Arts in writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts. She also was a Stegner Fellow in Poetry at Stanford University from 1996-98, and has authored three full-length collections of poems: Habitats, The Daughter’s Almanac, and Saints of South Dakota & Other Poems.
She has had work published in Narrative, The Paris Review, The Yale Review, The Kenyon Review, and The Missouri Review.
