It's All About that Bass at CWU's Annual Octubaween

Get your ears ready for the annual Halloween blast from Central Washington University's tuba/euphonium studio—Octubaween offers a hearty helping of new and old favorites to ring in All Hallows E'en. The concert begins at 8:00 p.m., October 31, in the Music Building Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

"Octubaween is our annual fall studio recital in the tuba-euphonium studio!" said David McLemore, CWU's instructor of tuba and euphonium. "It features members of the tuba-euphonium studio as well as Central Transit, the CWU tuba-euphonium ensemble—the ensemble is open to non-studio members. All told, 13 tuba and euphonium players will be featured in a range of ensemble and solo performances."

The program is a combination of light classical arrangements, such as Brahms's Est Ist ein Ros Entsprungen, original music for tuba and euphonium, movie/television music arrangements—"Raiders March" from Raiders of the Lost Ark, Batman—and pop arrangements from pieces like Thriller. The performers will be in costume, and audience members are encouraged to wear costumes as well.

Parking in the CWU lots is free after 4:30 p.m., except in specially designated spaces and residence hall lots.
