The state House approved a measure Thursday that could establish an alternative model for students at Central Washington University to earn academic credits.

Lawmakers voted 79-19 to pass House Bill 1439, and it now moves to the Senate for consideration.

The bill would establish an online alternative credit program for baccalaureate degrees. The program is intended for students who take different approaches to get a degree, such as valuable experience through work.
