A Night of Remembrance and Inspiration at Central Washington University


Central Washington University will present a special Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Remembrance Event on January 18 at 6 p.m. in the SURC Theatre.

This powerful evening will pay tribute to the enduring legacy of Dr. King, featuring captivating spoken word performances, soul-stirring gospel singing by the Carter Sisters from Yakima, and an inspirational address by Mal Stewman.

Event Highlights:

  • Visual Display: View images of the legacy of Dr. King outside of the SURC Theatre.
  • Spoken Word: Immerse yourself in the art of spoken word as talented performers take the stage to share thought-provoking pieces inspired by the sacrifices made by the leaders of the civil rights movement.
  • Gospel Singing by The Carter Sisters: Experience the uplifting and soulful melodies of The Carter Sisters, a Gospel singing group from Yakima, as they lend their powerful voices to the celebration.
  • Keynote Address: Gain insights and inspiration from a compelling keynote address, reflecting on the legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Join Us: We invite the community to join us for an evening of reflection, inspiration, and celebration as we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Admission is free, and all are welcome to attend.
