CWU “Triunfar” Project on Latinx Leaders to Feature KUNS-TV Journalist Paula Lamas

Central Washington University students recently researched a broad range of Latinx leaders in the Pacific Northwest. One of their subjects was Paula Lamas, a KUNS-TV journalist, who will lead the discussion “Media Matters: The Importance of Latinx Media” on March 7 at 5 p.m. in the Museum of Culture & Environment.

Lamas will talk with students about her career path. Students, in turn, will draw connections to current issues impacting Latinx community members.

Last fall, students Jamie Gonzalez and Zackary Gonzalez interviewed Lamas as part of a larger research project where students interviewed federal judges, entrepreneurs, and leaders of non-profit organizations.

The name for their research project—Triunfar—in Spanish means to triumph, to succeed, or to play a trump card. The student researchers in Triunfar, ask questions about family, culture, and the opportunities and challenges Latinx people face on their pathway to leadership.
