CWU Scholars to Host Teach-in About Ukraine on Monday

Russia has invaded Ukraine. What does this mean? How do we make sense of the images, videos, and voices that come to us across a myriad of news and social media sources?

Central Washington University scholars and others around the region are eager to discuss and help make sense of the complexities of this global event, including how it resonates locally.

On Monday, February 28, CWU will be hosting a teach-in about the situation in Ukraine from noon to 1:30 p.m. The event is open to the public, and attendees can participate in-person at the Student Union & Recreation Center (SURC) Theatre on campus, or remotely via Zoom.

Attendees will hear from Associate Professor of Russian Volha Isakava, a Belarusian native and scholar of post-Soviet cinema and popular culture. Also speaking will be Professor of History Roxanne Easley, a specialist in imperial and early Soviet history; and Provost Michelle DenBeste, whose research has centered on 19th century Russian women scientists and Russians living in the U.S.
