CWU mathematician weighs in on increasing chances with Powerball

People across the country are lining up to buy Powerball tickets for a chance at winning the biggest jackpot in history.

One-point-five billion dollars is a tough amount to wrap your head around.

And the likelihood of winning that money is just as high.

"It's hard to come up with words for how unlikely this is," Central Washington University Mathematics Professor Dominic Klyve said. "You could try flipping a coin, calling it in the air, and your odds of getting it right 28 times in a row are better than your odds of winning the power ball."
