Registration is now open for two spring break educational conferences hosted by Central Washington University.

CWU Information Technology and Administrative Management (ITAM) will present a "Leaders in Training Leadership Bootcamp" from March 22-25. The four-day online conference, which applies to students from all majors, will be based on the Leadership Agility concept - the notion that leadership is influence, so everyone can be a leader.

"Participants will develop what's called a 'leadership toolbox' of abilities, knowledge, and skills," said Kurt Kirstein, conference co-coordinator and interim associate dean of CWU's College of Education and Profession Studies. "These are tools they can apply in any role in an organization, allowing them to lead from any seat at the table."

Among the topics that will be explored are conflict management, emotional intelligence, leadership styles, process improvement, project management, and team development.

Cost for the Leadership Bootcamp is $50 for CWU students and $100 for general admission.

Also during spring break, the CWU School of Graduate Studies and Research will offer a free, online "Global Primatology Conference: Lemurs, Lorises, Tarsiers, Monkeys and Apes from Sanctuaries, Zoos, and the Wild." The March 22-26 program will feature experts in the field of alloprimate (non-human primate) species discussing research and conservation efforts now underway in natural habitats, sanctuaries, and zoos worldwide.

"This impressive, student-organized conference will be of interest to experts, students, and afficionados alike," said Lene Pedersen, CWU anthropology and museum studies professor. "It brings together an exciting line-up of primatologists working with every infraorder of alloprimates."

Each conference presentation will last between an hour and 90 minutes, with up to 30 minutes for questions. CWU is hosting the conference because it is among a limited number of universities in the US that offer undergraduate and graduate education in primate behavior.
