Antonio Sanchez, Central Washington University government relations representative, is also an acknowledged scholar pertaining to Latino history and heritage.

In conjunction with Cinco de Mayo, he wrote an article on the meaning of the celebration—a celebration that he contends is very misunderstood—titled “The 5th of May: trajectory, re-appropriations and possibilities of a Mexico-American Tradition.”

Sanchez article has been published, in Spanish, in the international journal Contemporary Dilemmas: Education, Politics and Values.

“It’s a quarterly Mexican electronic publication edited by peers conducting scientific research in the field of education,” Sanchez noted.
