It’s been almost a year, but Crimson & Black is officially back.
The fall 2026 edition of the Central Washington University magazine started arriving in mailboxes last week, and copies will soon be appearing across the Ellensburg campus.
The stories contained in CWU’s signature publication will be appearing on Central Today over the next two months, and a new-and-improved digital version is also available. Here are some of the highlights in our latest edition:
- The CWU Aviation department is building toward the future with a $6.2 million Flight Training Center currently being designed at Bowers Field.
- Earthquake research network, overseen by CWU Professor Tim Melbourne has earned international acclaim for its work to preserve the safety of communities across the West.
- Central alumnus Michael “Wanz” Wansley looks back on an illustrious music career.
- CWU launches $75 million Futures Campaign to improve access and opportunity for students from all socioeconomic backgrounds.
- National champion triple-jumper and high-jumper Emy Ntekpere looks back on a successful career and how she found a home at CWU.
- CWU proudly opens our newest building, the 104,000-square-foot North Academic Commons.
Production of Crimson & Black shifted from the Office of Marketing and Communications to University Advancement earlier this year, and both teams continued to work closely together to present a magazine that the entire CWU community can be proud of.
Despite the changes in oversight, the overarching goal of the magazine has remained the same: to shine a positive light on CWU students, faculty, staff, and alumni, plus our many standout programs and key initiatives.
We hope you enjoy the latest edition of Crimson & Black, and we look forward to hearing your feedback. If you have comments or questions, please email editor@cwucrimsonandblack.com.
