A former Ellensburg High School and Central Washington University football standout has been tapped as the new general manager of the Minnesota Vikings.
After spending the past 13 seasons with the Seattle Seahawks — the last four as assistant GM — Nolan Teasley was officially named the new leader of the Vikings’ front office on Monday.
“I am truly honored to join the Minnesota Vikings organization and grateful for the opportunity to lead football operations for such a respected franchise,” Teasley said in a release from the team. “The Vikings have everything needed to compete at the highest level — a strong culture, great ownership, world-class facilities and an exceptional fan base.”
Teasley was a football and soccer standout at Ellensburg and was inducted into the school’s athletic hall of fame last year. He earned a scholarship to play football for the Wildcats, but he finished his playing career after his junior year.
He graduated from CWU in 2007 with a degree in public relations and business, and after working in marketing for a few years, he landed a job with the Seahawks in 2013 — the season the franchise won its first-ever Super Bowl title.
Teasley worked his way through the player personnel department, taking a lead role in 2018 after three years as a scout and one year as assistant director. He became assistant GM under General Manager John Schneider in 2023 and helped the team win another Super Bowl title earlier this year.
His former boss has nothing but praise for Teasley’s talent and work ethic.
“He came in as an intern and outworked, outlearned, and outgrew every role we gave him — and now he's a general manager in this league,” Schneider said in a press release. “That doesn't happen by accident. It happens because of who he is as a person and how he approaches everything he does.”
