For the second straight year, Central Washington University will host a Law Enforcement Recruitment Expo on Thursday, May 7, welcoming representatives from nine organizations from around the state.
The event, hosted by the CWU Department of Law and Justice, will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the McIntyre Music Building lawn, 906 E. Dean Nicholson Blvd.
Representatives from the King County Sheriff’s Office, Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, Seattle Police Department, Spokane Police Department, Washington State Patrol, Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office, Ellensburg Police Department, Renton Police Department will be on campus to talk to CWU students and community members who are interested in law enforcement careers.
Along with providing general information about their departments, the visiting organizations will display a search-and-rescue vehicle, a helicopter, and a boat. At least one police K-9 unit will be on hand, and a drone demonstration is also planned.
Event organizers say the expo is a good opportunity for students interested in forensics, data analysis, and other law enforcement-related careers.
The expo will provide students with a chance to speak to Human Resources staff from the visiting organizations to learn about potential job openings, what they are looking for in candidates, and more. Each of the organizations will also do backgrounds checks and interviews on site.
