The Office of the President and University Advancement formally invite the Central Washington University campus community to attend an official ribbon cutting ceremony at the Robert and Valerie Moehring Event Center, in honor of the generosity of the center’s namesakes.
The event will be held on Friday, July 11 from 12-12:30 p.m., and will feature speeches by Rob Moehring, CWU President Jim Wohlpart, Vice President of University Advancement Paul Elstone, and others.
Robert (’69) and Valerie (’69) Moehring’s enduring commitment to Central Washington University is exemplified by their substantial philanthropic investment, which established the Presidential Innovation Fund to enrich the university community for generations to come. Robert Moehring, former Chairman of the Washington Shoe Company—a multigenerational family business founded in Seattle in 1891—led the company to national prominence while maintaining a strong commitment to community and philanthropy.
Both Robert and Valerie credit their CWU education as being foundational to their personal and professional success. Their dedication to giving back reflects a deep belief in the power of education to change lives and create lasting impact. The Robert and Valerie Moehring Event Center honors their vision and commitment to the university’s future. The Moehrings’ generosity will help foster leadership, innovation, and opportunity at Central Washington University for students, faculty, and the greater community.
