The latest edition of CWU Crimson & Black magazine is hot off the presses, and — if we do say so ourselves — it’s one of the best editions yet.

The Spring 2025 edition, produced by the Office of Marketing and Communications and University Advancement, is chock full of Central Washington University success stories that provide a snapshot of what’s happening at CWU and the people who help make us one of the best regional comprehensive universities in the country.

As you have come to expect from our award-winning publication, there is no shortage of original news and feature content, featuring faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community partners. Among the highlights in the new edition of Crimson & Black:

  • Five siblings in the Moreno family of Yakima became first-generation graduates from CWU, and their youngest brother is currently a student here.
  • Geological Sciences Lecturer Nick Zentner has created a worldwide audience on PBS and YouTube with his Nick on the Rocks program.
  • CWU Anthropology alumnus Jon Shellenberger is working to uncover long-hidden gravesites around the state, including a former Native American boarding school in the Yakima Valley.
  • A look at the myriad ways in which CWU shares a bond of mutual support with the Ellensburg and Kittitas County communities.
  • CWU’s growing Sport Management program is giving students a leg up in an increasingly competitive industry.
  • Alumnus Rob Jungmann, who has built three successful hemp clothing businesses since he graduated from CWU in the early 1990s.
  • Associate Professor of English Maya Zeller has become a celebrity in the international poetry community, recently being invited to Oxford University for a fellowship program.

We would also appreciate if you would take a moment to complete our new CASE survey that will help us determine the future of the magazine.

Thank you to the entire CWU community for your support. It's been another great year at Central, and we look forward to continue telling you all about the incredible accomplishments of the Wildcat community.
