The CWU Museum of Culture and Environment is introducing a new exhibit this week, and it will be hosting a Science Talk on Thursday, April 24, at 5:30 p.m.

The exhibit, titled Plastic Runs Through It: Microplastics in the Yakima River, features the research of 2022 master’s program graduate J Shah and CWU Professor of Biology Clay Arango.

The exhibit is part of the Window on Central series, which showcases the work of CWU faculty and students in the College of the Sciences. Shah is currently a habitat biologist in Yakima County for the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. She conducted the research that appears in the exhibit with Arango, her professor and thesis advisor.

Plastic Runs Through It explores how microplastics are affecting the life-sustaining waters of the Yakima River and what we, as Central Washington residents, can do to address this nearly invisible pollutant and health concern.

Light refreshments will be served at Thursday’s Science Talk in the Dean Hall first-floor lobby. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own reusable cup.

If you have questions about the exhibit, email museum@cwu.edu.
