The Central Washington University community is invited to attend a special evening of music on Sunday, February 23, when The United States Coast Guard Band presents a free concert in the McIntyre Music Building.

The free event, sponsored by the CWU Band Program, will begin at 7 p.m. in Hertz Concert Hall.

Audiences can look forward to an inspiring program featuring wind band favorites, virtuosic soloists, patriotic classics, rousing marches, and new music by American composers. Tickets to the performance are free and available online.

The concert is part of the Coast Guard Band’s Centennial Celebration Concert Tour, marking the 100-year milestone for the ensemble. Under the direction of Captain Adam R. Williamson, the band’s centennial tour is taking place next month across the Coast Guard’s 11th and 13th Districts.

Established in 1925, The United States Coast Guard Band is considered the premier musical representative of the U.S. Coast Guard and the Department of Homeland Security. The 55-member ensemble has a distinguished mission: to promote public goodwill, preserve and honor the heritage of the Coast Guard and the nation, and inspire pride in service through its music.
