Central Washington University’s Executive Director of Auxiliary Enterprises Joseph Pearson has been elected as the new vice president of the National Association of College Auxiliary Services (NACAS) West Region Board.

Pearson was elevated to his new post at the organization’s annual conference in June in Sonoma, California. He will serve a three-year term: the first as vice president; the second as president; and the third as past president. The past president is in charge of planning the annual conference.

Pearson noted that serving in organizations like NACAS provides many benefits to professionals, their colleagues, and the institutions they serve.

“It is important for us to be involved in our respective national and regional associations,” he said. “You gain valuable insight into trends, solutions to common challenges, and recognition for CWU. You also build professional relationships that last beyond a career, and you have colleagues you can call on quickly when you need ideas for how to approach challenges.”

Pearson, who has been at CWU since 2016, currently serves on the NACAS National Foundation Board as the West Regional Representative. The NACAS Foundation works to raise funds to provide scholarship, research, and other opportunities to advance the profession.

“I am honored to be a part of a very successful and dedicated group of professionals working together to advance success in our profession of auxiliary services, which ultimately benefits the students we serve around the region and our nation,” Pearson said.

Founded in 1969, NACAS is a professional trade association that supports the non-academic segment of higher education responsible for generating business through a diverse array of campus services that students need and value, including food services, bookstores, housing, and transportation.

NACAS West is made up of 13 U.S. states and territories, Canadian provinces, and territories in Australia, New Zealand, and Guam. Its goal is to support the mission of the national association by offering extended, accessible, and regionally relevant value to its members through programs designed to foster professional development, facilitate a cherished network of colleagues, and cultivate collaboration.
