The Central Washington University campus will be the site of a full-scale Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) exercise on Wednesday, June 12, from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The CWU Office of Emergency Management would like to notify the CWU and Kittitas County communities that there will be emergency vehicles in the area of 18th Avenue and Alder Street from 7:30 a.m. until approximately 12:30 p.m.

CWU Emergency Management, in cooperation with FEMA Region 10, public safety agencies, and other local stakeholders, will be conducting the MCI for emergency preparedness and response training purposes. This full-scale MCI exercise will allow CWU, emergency responders, and other relevant agencies to practice and evaluate their readiness to handle such situations in an efficient manner.

This exercise will include actors and response personnel reacting to a simulated incident at the listed location(s). Simulated white smoke will also be used during the training exercise. Please note that this event is purely fictitious and meant for training and evaluation purposes only.

Announcement boards will be posted around the area to remind the public that the emergency activity taking place in the area is for testing purposes.
