Central Washington University Bands is excited to sponsor a special performance by the United States Marine Band, “The President’s Own,” on Tuesday, October 29, at 7:30 p.m. in Nicholson Pavilion.

Conducted by Lieutenant Colonel Ryan Nowlin, who has led the band since 2023, this concert will offer the CWU community a unique opportunity to experience one of the world’s most celebrated musical ensembles. Free tickets are required for entry and are available online. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and attendees are encouraged to arrive early.

“The President’s Own” United States Marine Band was founded in 1798, making it America’s oldest continuously active professional musical organization. Throughout its 226-year history, the band has performed for every U.S. president since John Adams. Upholding its tradition of musical excellence, the group performs at the White House and other national ceremonies. The musicians also travel around the country to provide public concerts like the one coming to CWU this month.

The upcoming concert will feature a wide variety of musical selections, from the beloved marches of John Philip Sousa to orchestral transcriptions and contemporary compositions. The program will showcase the Marine Band’s versatility and highlight the ensemble’s ability to perform across a range of musical styles with precision and emotion. The concert will also include a special tribute to veterans and active-duty service members, underscoring the band’s long-standing connection to the U.S. military.

Director of Bands Dr. T. André Feagin said Central Washington University Bands is honored to sponsor this performance and bring such a distinguished musical ensemble to the Ellensburg community.

“Hosting ‘The President’s Own’ Marine Band is a momentous occasion for CWU and our community,” he said. “Lt. Col. Nowlin and the band represent the highest level of artistry and dedication, and we are thrilled to share this exceptional concert with our students and the public.”
