Central Washington University identifies maximizing sustainability as an important objective in its strategic plan. Recently members of the CWU community have come together to work towards improving campus sustainability during several Sustainability Cafes.  A major goal of addressing sustainability is to reduce CWU's environmental impact and preserve resources.

Students, faculty and staff met one final time (this academic year) to celebrate all of the accomplishments and strides everyone has made toward making our campus more sustainable!
Some of the many accomplishments included getting the sustainability website up and running, the beginning of the CWU Food Systems Cooperative and the approval of an undergraduate certificate in sustainability (to be offered fall 2019). Without the help of those who were so dedicated this past year, none of this would have been possible. The celebration was held to personally recognize and honor those leaders who have gone the extra mile and never gave up on their goals. Interim Vice President of Operations Rick Duffett stopped by to voice his support of our ongoing efforts. It is still our goal to create funding for a full time sustainability coordinator.
