SEOI Information

SEOI Process

The Student Evaluation of Instruction (SEOI) is an important opportunity for students to give feedback.

This evaluation process benefits the instructor and the CWU College in the High School (CiHS) program, by providing information about the student experience with CWU at their high school.

How it works:

Note: Students must log into their MyCWU account at least once to activate their CWU email address, before the start of the SEOI, in order to receive the notification email and instructions.

  • About three weeks before the end of the term, students will receive an email through the email account put on their registration, informing them about the evaluation opportunity and process.
  • A day later, the students receive a second email, indicating that the survey is "live" and to complete the survey.

The survey only takes 5-8 minutes to complete.

All responses are anonymous.

The evaluation period for each SEOI only lasts about three weeks. It's important that students take action as advised in the emails within that timeframe. Students that don't respond promptly will receive reminder emails.

After the close of the survey period, the SEOI report is available for teachers to review.

This feedback is important

The information provided by this evaluation process is a benefit to the teacher as well as the CWU College in the High School program in schools across the state.

Teachers can choose to add "Complete SEOI" to their class syllabus as an end-of-term assignment. This has proven an effective way to get a higher response rate, which increases the benefit of a responsive educational program to all students. Instructors receive an email letting them know when SEOIs will begin and end for each term. An instructor must have logged in an activated their @cwu.edu account in order for their class to be part of the SEOI distribution.

Instructors will only receive results if there are more than five students enrolled in the class. If there are fewer than five enrolled, students will still receive an SEOI but the data will go into academic discipline data for the whole university.

This is the identical evaluation process that is used at CWU to evaluate the instruction provided by professors on campus and through distance learning. Like any academic department, our survey questionnaire is designed to provide focused feedback. The questions included in the SEOI for CiHS are pertinent for our participating students.

Asking for feedback and gathering data, and more importantly responding appropriately to what we learn from that data is one of the ways CWU CiHS works in partnership with schools across the state. This information is also provided to NACEP, the accreditation body, to demonstrate that CWU CiHS meets or exceeds the standards.

If you have any questions please email Kyle Carrigan, Director of Concurrent Enrollment.
