Support Geological Sciences at CWU

Your support can help our students conduct research, get into the field, and succeed as the next generation of geoscientists. Please consider donating to one of the following funds.

Funds

Adopt-a-Rock

Adopt a rock in the Discovery Hall rock garden to reduce student fees for field courses. Our goal is to cut field course fees in half for all students, and you can help us do that.

Geological Sciences department fund

Donations to the general department fund are the most flexible, and allow us to put your money towards the greatest needs. These funds support our speaker series, new teaching equipment, faculty professional development, and other needs as they arise.

Jim and Jean Hinthorne Geoscience Undergraduate Fund

The The Hinthorne fund was established in 2019 with a founding donation from CWU Emeritus Professor Jim Hinthorne and his wife Jean. Funds from this award may support student expenses related to undergraduate research in geology.

Dr. Louis Don and Ann Ringe Endowed Grant

The Ringe fund was established by the family of Dr. Louis Don and Ann Ringe for the benefit of current and future Geology students at Central Washington University. Funds from this award provide support for undergraduate student research.

Robert D. Bentley Scholarship Fund

The Bentley Fund was established in 2006 with a lead gift from Michael and Jeannette Walen of Houston, Texas. Funds from this award support undergraduate geology majors' participation in field-based courses that carry fees in addition to tuition.
