Our courses in Geological Sciences are hands-on and minds-on, and will engage you in making observations, collecting and analyzing data, and addressing real questions in the classroom, laboratory, and field. Descriptions of most of our courses can be found in the CWU course catalog, and we provide additional information here for some of our courses.
Field courses
In several of our courses, we spend extended time in the field. We provide additional information for these courses here to help you prepare:
- GEOL 188 Geology and Environmental Geology Field Trips is an introductory course with a weekend field trip to get to know the region and people in geology. No prerequisites.
- GEOL 210 Introduction to Geologic Field Methods is a core course in all of our major programs. The only prerequisite is an introductory geology class with lab.
- GEOL 489 Geologic Field Methods is a capstone course for students in the Geology BS.
- GEOL 493 Field Methods in Environmental Geology is a capstone course for students in the Environmental Geological Sciences BS.
