Why Study Spanish at CWU?

In the Spanish program at CWU, we honor the rich legacy and current influence of Spanish, a language that has played a crucial role in shaping the Americas and continues to thrive in the US, making the nation home to the second-largest group of Spanish speakers globally.

Are classes are guided by a team of instructors, committed to cultivating a safe, inclusive, and anti-racist learning space. We also actively endorse social justice initiatives, making a difference not just within the confines of the classroom, but resonating throughout the broader community.

“I assisted communication between Spanish-speaking parents and educators regarding the performance of their students in school, provide sight-translation of written documents, and learn culturally-specific terminology,” Joanna Liggett earned her degree in Spanish language and literature in 2023.
