Why Work at CWU?

Central Washington University (CWU) is a master's degree-granting institution with over 11,000 students. More than 160 undergraduate and master's degrees are offered. Founded in 1891, the Ellensburg campus is located in the heart of Washington State. We consider ourselves a "small-town university" even though we are only a two-hour drive away from several large cities! Seeking a more urban setting? CWU also has six university centers, three of which are located in the Seattle area.

HERC Membership

CWU’s membership in the Higher Education Recruitment Consortium (HERC) demonstrates our commitment to recruiting practices that are transparent and equitable and to creating a diverse and supportive academic environment.

Honored for Diversity

CWU received the Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award for our demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion.

LGBTQ-Friendly

Campus Pride, a leading national nonprofit working to encourage safe campuses for LGBTQ students, selected CWU as one of the top LGBT-friendly schools in the nation in the Campus Pride 2014 Top 50 LGBT-Friendly Colleges & Universities. CWU’s five-star rating signifies the highest percentages across eight benchmarks for policies, programs, and practices.

CWU has been formally recognized as a “Veteran Supportive Campus,” according to the Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs. Visit CWU’s Career Services or the Veterans Center for assistance with resumes or translating military experience.
