Campus AED (Automated External Defibrillator) Locations

CWU has a variety of Zoll Plus Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) located throughout campus. AEDs are a proven aid in the survival of those suffering from a sudden cardiac event and are designed to be used by bystanders and others with some basic training.

While the units are quite simple to use and could be used by an untrained person, it is recommended that anyone having access to an AED get basic CPR and AED training in order to better understand how to use the device as quickly and effectively as possible.

Time is a critical factor in a sudden cardiac event. First aid/CPR classes offered by CWU include AED training which is put on by Kittitas County Fire and Rescue. CWU EH&S has these trainings throughout the school year and these training can be located on Central's Event Calendar and on 25Live.

The AEDs are stored in white cabinets mounted in easy-to-find locations in the following buildings:

  • Aquatic Building – Main Office/Check-In Desk
  • Aviation – CWU Flight Training Center/Bowers Field
  • Barge Hall – Second floor, west hallway near room 202, close to the southwest stairwell
  • Black Hall – West entrance main lobby under the clock by the book depository
  • Bouillon Hall – West entrance main lobby
  • Brooks Library – First-floor main hallway by computer lab/class 101, north of the totem pole
  • Jougeward – Hallway near lock shop
  • McConnell Hall – Main hallway between scene shop and departmental offices
  • Music Building – South entrance lobby near elevator machine room 143
  • Nicholson Pavilion – Front main lobby hallway near the ticket booth and basketball arena
  • Purser Hall – Second-floor exercise science room
  • Science Building – East entrance main lobby
  • SURC (4) – Second-floor east wall cardio, first-floor south-side C-store cafe, second-floor Ballroom, and first-floor left side control room

There are also AEDs with the Trainers in the Athletic department that can be located in the Training Room in Nicholson Pavilion and at CWU athletic events where a Trainer is in attendance.

The cabinets are alarmed and will produce a loud siren noise when the door is opened. Shutting the door will turn off the alarm. For additional information, please contact Environmental Health and Safety at 963-2255.
