Governmental Affairs


The ASCWU Office of Governmental Affairs centers students at the heart of decision-making and advocacy, representing the student voice with local, state, and federal government bodies. The Director and student attend legislative sessions, lobby for student rights, and organize campaigns to promote civic engagement. They actively shape policy and influence lawmakers. 

ASCWU Director for Governmental Affairs: Ryan Harman

The Director of Governmental Affairs oversees statewide legislative issues pertaining to higher education and all issues affecting students. The Director and their staff are dedicated to serving the public as the liaison between the ASCWU Student Government and Olympia.

Washington Student Association

WSA is the official statewide representation for 15 public four year and two year colleges. ASCWU works closely with WSA and other student governments on the legislative agenda to change higher education policy. https://www.wastudents.org/
