Update: Spring Break Changes to Employee and Facility Schedule

CWU Logo

CWU Community,
I would like to thank all of you for your patience, professionalism, and understanding during this challenging time. COVID-19 is compelling unprecedented change in Washington State. These changes have impacted, and will continue to impact, the social fabric of our lives. They also necessitate changes to the way we work. We ask that you embrace the changes and challenges that will happen.
Academic buildings will be closed during spring break. Administrative buildings will be open, though most offices will be operating remotely.
University leaders are meeting daily and sometimes hourly to adapt our operations to new government dictates and new conditions. In order to help slow the transmission of the SARS Coronavirus 2 and in compliance with the orders of the governor, CWU will make the following changes to operations:

  • As soon as possible—today if you can and to the fullest extent possible-- all employees are required to work remotely. This will be in effect through April 8.
  • Certain positions are not able to work remotely and exceptions will be made by your supervisor in consultation with the President/Vice President.
  • Please familiarize yourself with the FAQs available at Supervisors are responsible for ensuring employees have work plans and understand expectations. The attached form can be used to document these conversations.
  • Supervisors and appointing authorities will continue to adapt work schedules and work assignments as needed.

Continue to practice social distancing, ensuring you are six feet or more away from other people when possible. Refrain from shaking hands. Use Skype, Zoom, or other virtual strategies for meetings when possible.

Additionally, we have scheduled supervisor and employee information sessions to help you navigate this process. Sessions will be held at the following dates/times:

  • Supervisor Session - Tuesday, March 17: 11am - 12pm, to call in: (669) 900-9128 Meeting ID: 195361324
  • Supervisor Session - Tuesday, March 17: 3pm - 4pm, to call in: (669) 900-9128 Meeting ID: 919967673
  • Employee Session - Wednesday, March 18: 10am - 11am, to call in: (669) 900-9128 Meeting ID: 792438207
  • Employee Session - Wednesday, March 18: 3pm - 4pm, to call in: (669) 900-9128 Meeting ID: 808521295

Practice compassion. Closing schools, canceling highly anticipated events, and disrupting our daily routines by staying home and away from others causes stress for all of us. This is hard and important work. Take a deep breath. Remember we are doing this to protect people we love and the communities we call home.

We are in this together, and together we will get through it.
