CWU Names Zeutenhorst Director of Executive Events

ELLENSBURG, Washington — Central Washington University has appointed Lauren Zeutenhorst to serve as the university's director of executive events, providing consultation primarily for events in the Division of Academic and Student Life. She also will manage the use of University House, a heavily used event facility that also serves as the residence of the President and Mrs. Gaudino.

President James L. Gaudino said Zeutenhorst’s position, new to the university, would enhance the coordination and presentation of key university functions.

“The way we conduct events says something about who we are,” said CWU President James L. Gaudino. “Lauren brings us the precision, judgment, and effectiveness we need to take enterprise-level events to the next level."

Gaudino said Zeutenhorst will provide the consultation required to ensure a high quality, effective execution of the university’s highest-profile events, which the three divisions will identify annually. He said the hiring of the new director would allow CWU to better coordinate and plan its most important annual events.

Zeutenhorst will lead the planning for the university's most important events, such as commencement, fall and spring convocations, faculty promotion and tenure receptions, and other annual ceremonies within the Divisions of Academic and Student Life, Enrollment Management, and the President. She will report to Chief of Staff/Vice President of Public Affairs Linda Schactler.

Zeutenhorst, who held a similar position at Boston College, said she was eager to start her new duties at Central.

“I’m thrilled to be back in central Washington and look forward to helping organize and put on executive level events at the university,” she said. “Having been born in Yakima and growing up in Selah, I’m very familiar with CWU and its excellent reputation in higher education.”

Zeutenhorst is a graduate of Gonzaga University with a master’s degree in higher education/student affairs from Boston College. She is former Director of Special Projects for the Hyatt Family Facilities in Yakima and was co-founder and supervisor of the Campus Activities Board of Boston College, where she organized more than 100 events each year.
