CWU Professor Appointed to TESOL International Association Board of Directors
Central Washington University Professor of Education Kate Mastruserio Reynolds Ed.D.
Central Washington University Professor of Education Kate Mastruserio Reynolds Ed.D. has been elected to a three-year term on the TESOL International Association Board of Directors. Reynolds will be installed at this month’s TESOL annual business meeting.
TESOL International Association, formerly known as Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages, is the world’s largest professional organization for teachers of English to speakers of other languages, with more than 11,000 active members around the world.
“I’m very honored by the support of my colleagues and peers worldwide,” Reynolds said. “For them to trust me with a leadership position in an organization that means so much to all of us is deeply humbling, and I look forward to giving it my all.”
Reynolds has been a member of TESOL for more than 25 years, attending every annual conference and contributing to the international English-teaching community. She chaired the 2013 Convention Planning Committee and sees the organization as an invaluable tool for educators.
“We all care so deeply, and TESOL has provided us so many opportunities to develop professionally,” she said. “I think that’s why we continue to go back, as members and as leaders.”
Reynolds’ research focuses on content-based ESL and English-Language Learning (ELL) inclusion, interaction in second language acquisition, teacher education in ESL/English as a Foreign Language (EFL), and materials development. She has published three books and more than many peer-reviewed articles over the course of her career.
Reynolds also was the recipient of the 2020 Collective Excellent Award from the CWU Department of Education, Development, Teaching and Learning (EDTL).
