CWU community remembers Gabriel Ryan Jungmann

Gabriel Ryan Jungmann

CWU student Gabe Jungmann passed away suddenly last week. His funeral service will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. in Bothell.

Dear CWU Community,

The past week has been an emotional time for the Wildcat family since we learned of the sudden passing of a CWU student at his on-campus residence.

As we grieve the unexpected loss of Gabe Jungmann, Central has been in close contact with his parents, Conrad and Jennifer, about how they would like us to share the details about his passing and upcoming memorial service.

While the Kittitas County Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet determined Gabe’s cause of death, we continue to work with the Jungmanns on how to best communicate the details of their tragic loss with the CWU community.

Those who knew Gabe remember him as a fun, engaging soul who brightened the lives of everyone he knew with his sense of humor and genuine, heartfelt approach to his personal relationships. As his family noted in his obituary: “Always quick with a quip, Gabe touched everyone he knew with his dry humor, broad intelligence, and sincere caring for other people.”

Aside from studying film and communications at Central, the Lynnwood native enjoyed hiking, river rafting, playing video games, taking road trips with his father, gardening with his mother, and sharing jokes with his brother and sister, Lucas and Maya.

Gabe’s childhood friend Eli Munn expressed the tremendous sense of loss he is feeling as he considers what life will be like without him.

“Gabe was my best friend and I loved him so much,” said Eli, also a CWU student. “I’ve known him since elementary school and I still can’t believe he’s gone.”

Gabe’s funeral will be held on Saturday, January 28, at 3 p.m. at Northlake Christian Church (19029 North Road in Bothell) with a reception immediately following.

Please keep the Jungmann family and all of Gabe’s loved ones in your thoughts during this trying time.

With deep care,

A. James Wohlpart
