2023 Notable Books for a Global Society Announced
The Children’s Literature and Reading Special Interest Group (CLR/SIG) of the International Literacy Association is pleased to announce the 2023 Notable Books for a Global Society (NBGS). The 25 books, appropriate for Grades P-12, were chosen from more than 500 submitted by publishers to the selection committee. The books are representative of diverse perspectives and contemporary issues.
The selection committee is comprised of 10 literacy professionals from around the world, including classroom teachers, literacy consultants, and university professors. The committee members read and vetted the books over the past year until a list of 25 was selected. Sharryn Larsen Walker, Education, Development, Teaching, and Learning, is a member of the committee.
To accompany the list, more detailed reviews, teaching suggestions, and related books will be published in the Spring 2023 edition of The Dragon Lode, a publication of the CLR/SIG.
