Research Smartz: Coding in Python Kickstart

This workshop will provide a crash-course on getting started coding in Python for Math and Physics applications. Bring your own computer to get set-up with the basic knowledge and tools you need to begin coding in Python. Topic coverage will focus on understanding basic applications of coding in Python, features and functions of the language, reviewing and working through practice examples, and familiarizing yourself with recommended tools for practice and application. 
 
What you can expect to learn from this session:
  • Review basic of how programming works and why it’s useful for solving mathematical problems
  • Explore how to get set-up with tools for coding in Python and finding/accessing file-types
  • Review coding examples to see concept applications
  • Practice writing a line of code, debugging it, and compiling
  • Discuss applications and pitfalls of AI coding applications
  • Review free resources for further learning and practicing of Python
