Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I have more than one vehicle on campus at the same time if they are both on my permit?

No, you can only have one vehicle on campus at a time per permit.

Q: Can I put multiple people (roommates) vehicles on my permit?

No, the permit is valid for the purchasing individual only!

Q: My current campus or apartment permit does not expire until September 2024. Do I have to do anything if I stay in CWU apartments next year?

Each year your apartment permit has to be renewed. 2023-2024 year permits will be available starting late August 2023. If you plan to buy a Fall or Calendar virtual permit or renew or request an apartment parking permit for the 2023-2024 academic year, log into the new system and follow the prompts - details below. Remember, the option to pre-order does not begin until August 19, 2023.

Q: How do I purchase a new virtual parking permit or apartment permit?

Pre-order for Spring or Calendar 2023-2024 permits will begin March 11, 2024. These permits will be valid starting date of purchase.

When you buy your new virtual permit online, be sure to ACTIVELY connect your vehicles to your permit. The system will NOT automatically connect your existing vehicles to a permit.

Q: What types of permits are available to current students, faculty, and staff?

Current students, faculty, and staff have the option to purchase a permit each quarter or for the entire calendar year.

Calendar Permits (valid until September 2024):

  • Students have the option to charge this permit to their student account.
  • Full-time faculty/staff have the option to choose payroll deduction for this permit.

Quarterly Permits (valid for approximately 10 weeks):

  • Students have the option to charge this permit to their student account.
  • Staff quarterly permits must be paid in full at time of purchase.

Q: When is a parking permit required to park on campus?

Permits are required all year long, which includes breaks and holidays Monday - Friday, between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Some lots require a permit 24 hours a day. Read the parking lot signs at each entrance for details.

For detailed parking rules and regulations, please read the Washington State Parking and Traffic Regulations.

Q: How do I add or delete vehicles connected to my CWU parking permit or apartment permit?

If you would like additional vehicles associated with your virtual parking permit, you will need to add each one to the new system and connect it to your permit. Instructions are below.

You may only have one permitted vehicle on campus at a time. If a second vehicle associated with the same permit is also parked on campus, you may receive a citation.

We use License Plate Reader technology, so it is the responsibility of the permit holder to ensure that the vehicle’s license plate has been entered correctly into the new system.

If you have an existing permit and want to add a new vehicle to it, review instructions below.

Log into the new system and select:

  • PERMITS dropdown menu (for existing permits)
  • View Your Permit
  • Click on your existing permit number
  • Click Add Vehicles to Permit (at bottom of page)
  • Click Add a new vehicle (at bottom of page)
  • Register Additional Vehicle
    • LICENSE PLATE MUST BE 100% ACCURATE
    • For vehicles with temporary plates, record the letters/numbers on the temporary paper license plate exactly as it appears
    • Do not enter special characters or dashes
    • If you have a speciality plate be sure to enter stacked letters
  • Click Next, select vehicle on next screen and select Add the selected vehicle

New license plate?

For our historical records, you cannot change the license plate on an existing vehicle. You need to Delete the vehicle with temp. plates and add the vehicle again with the new plate. (The vehicle with old/temp. plates will still be visible in your history.) See instructions below:

Deleting a vehicle with old/temporary plates and adding vehicle with updated plates:

Delete:

  • PERMITS dropdown menu
  • View Your Permit
  • Click on your existing permit number
  • Select Delete for vehicle with outdated/incorrect license plate

Add:

  • Return to PERMITS
  • View Your Permit
  • Click on Permit Number
  • Add Vehicles to Permit
  • Add updated vehicle details
  • Add a new vehicle (follow prompts to complete)

Q: What if I switch to another registered vehicle on the same day?

You may switch vehicles on the same day as long as the vehicle is connected to your permit. Again, remember that only one vehicle can be on campus at a time. If you would like to have multiple vehicles parked on campus at the same time, you will need to purchase a permit for each vehicle.

Q: What do I do if I have a loaner vehicle?

Add the loaner vehicle details to your virtual permit. In order to add the loaner vehicle, you may need to remove a vehicle from your permit if you already have 5 vehicles connected to your permit.

Remember to remove Rental/Loaner vehicles when no longer driving it to ensure you do not receive citations when you are no longer in possession of the vehicle. To learn how to add a vehicle to your permit, review the section on “How do I add or delete vehicles connected to my CWU parking permit or apartment permit?”

Q: Does my state disabled parking permit allow me to park anywhere on campus?

No, you must still follow CWU Parking and Traffic Regulations. You must have a valid CWU parking permit in addition to a state issued disabled parking license plate, state issued disabled permit, or a CWU disabled permit. This will allow you to park in reserved disabled spaces (or regular parking spaces if no disabled spaces are open). You may not park in service drives or reserved areas other than disabled parking. If you have any questions, please call Disability Support Services at (509) 963-2171 or the Parking Office at (509) 963-2667.

Q: I received a parking citation. What do I do now?

You have the option to pay or appeal a citation (restrictions apply). You have 28 days, which includes the date of the infraction, to pay the amount due. If payment of the citation has not been received by 4:30 pm on the 28th day, the citation will escalate and a $30.00 fee will be added to the original amount due. The escalated citation will also transfer to your CWU account. For guests, a CWU account will be created noting the unpaid fine.

Payments for CURRENT citations can be taken at the following locations:

  • Cashiers Office located on campus in Bouillon Hall 101 (located off N Chestnut St.)
  • Parking Services Office located at 1211 Wildcat Way, parking lot O-5
  • Online Payment Option:
  • Click here to log into MyParking Portal (use Wildcat Login or Guest Login)
  • This option does not reflect interest that may have accrued on a late citation; call the Parking Office for details
