CWU General Education Program Philosophy

The General Education Program offers undergraduate students a liberal arts education in order to cultivate thoughtful and responsible persons and citizens, prepare them for the world of work, and teach them to pursue knowledge for its own sake. In order to accomplish those broad goals, the General Education Program seeks to promote effective reasoning, broad and deep learning, and the inclination to inquire.

Faculty and staff are committed to ensuring graduates are prepared to be outstanding educational leaders and facilitators of learning who demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to educate and work within a diverse school population.

Why a Literacy Minor?

The Literacy Minor, with campus and field experiences, is designed to prepare literacy teachers and strengthen background preparation of secondary, middle school,elementary special education, and early childhood teachers

Literacy minors are eligible for the Washington State P-12 Reading Endorsement
