Northwest Center for Sport

Vision

At the Northwest Center for Sport, we are committed to advancing knowledge and experiential opportunities for students to allow them to lead the sport industry into the future.

Mission

The NWCS provides networking, professional development, and advanced learning to students, faculty, and industry partners. We seek progress in diverse representation, inclusive leadership, and equitable treatment within our programs, center activities, and the wider sport industry.

Who we are

In an effort to connect our students with the sport industry, we have hosted guest speakers on-campus and virtually from all facets of the sport industry:

  • Seattle Seahawks, Seattle Kraken, Seattle Mariners, Seattle Sounders, Portland Trail Blazers, PGA Tour, PAC-12 Networks, BYU Athletics, Michigan State University Athletics, Yakima Pippins, Root Sports, the WIAA, Department of Defense, Sport Singapore and our own CWU Athletics among others.

We have hosted conferences in years past and recently hosted our Annual CWU Northwest Sport Management Summit this Spring 2021 featuring current leaders from the sport industry. We as a Center also hold a student trip each year in which we took a group of students to the Portland Trail Blazers Career Fair and toured venues such as the Nike Campus, Moda Center and the Hillsboro Hops Ron Tonkin Field.

At the NWCS, there are opportunities for those interested in serving as a member of our undergraduate Sport Management Association and leadership opportunities in serving as a graduate student Northwest Center for Sport Ambassador.
