Dear CWU Physics alumni and friends,
We hope this annual newsletter finds you well. The physics department had an eventful year with many student accomplishments and other community connections to celebrate. The Astronomy Club held a week of public planetarium shows in the 4th(?) annual “Astro Week”. Society of Physics Students (SPS) put physics in action with a pinewood derby as part of our end-of-year celebration. The Rocket Club designed, built, and launched an operational 10-foot rocket as a collaborative engineering design team.
We were pleased to connect with our extended physics community across the state. CWU Physics alum (2022?) Kendra Bourne brought her students from [school name] to visit our campus. Students from CWU Physics and Pierce and Everett Community Colleges joined forces to launch a scientific hot air balloon. We are grateful to the alumni who shared with students in the department career seminar (see link/pg number). Our friends from the Northwest Medical Physics Center (NMPC) supported multiple opportunities for CWU students to learn about medical physics careers.
This year marks ten years in the department for two valued colleagues: Addison Wenger (Instruction and Classroom Support Technician) and Deanna Marshall (NESSP program manager). Those of you who have interacted with Addison and Deanna understand what an impact they have on the department. We are fortunate to have them as part of our community.
