Admission Criteria

IT Management requires the same admission criteria as the CWU Graduate School. We do not require the GRE or GMAT for admission. Find out more at the School of Graduate Studies and Research website.

We would like to see that you have a 3.0 GPA or above on your last 90 quarter credits/60 semester credits taken.

To be eligible you must have at least a bachelor's degree.

Application Process

  1. Complete the MS-IT Management Inquiry Form
  2. Complete an advising phone call with a program coordinator. Once we've received and processed your inquiry form, we will contact you to schedule a phone appointment. During this call, we will review your credentials, answer any questions, confirm your program choice, and guide you through the application process. If you're applying for the FlexIT Pro modality, you'll be sent a link to set up an appointment with the FlexIT Pro program coordinator, Dr. Williams.
  3. After your phone appointment, we will send a confirmation email summarizing what was discussed and what the next steps are.
  4. Complete CWU Graduate Studies Application
  5. Receive final confirmation of the admissions decision within 7-10 business days of completing the application.

What you will need to apply

  • Completed MS-IT Management Pre-Application Form (for both MS-IT Management and FlexIT Pro)
  • Completed phone interview
  • Completed CWU Graduate School application form (fees apply)
    • 3 Professional or Academic References: We require the names and email addresses of three references who can speak directly to your academic potential and professional work ethic. These must be academic references (such as current or former professors) or professional references (such as supervisors or managers). Character references, coworkers, friends, or family members are not accepted. When you click "save" on the application, they will automatically be emailed a digital survey to fill out. Please note: Both a formal letter of recommendation and the completed digital survey must be submitted by each reference for your application to be accepted for committee review.
    • Official Transcripts & 3.0 GPA: We will need official transcripts from all colleges previously attended. You must have a 3.0 GPA on your last 90 credits taken. If you’re a CWU graduate, you should already have your transcripts on file and you’re good to go! If your transcript is coming from an international institution, it will need a course-by-course transcript evaluation. You can read more here.
    • Statement of Professional & Educational Objectives (Formal Letter): Submit a formal, professionally formatted written statement of purpose (approximately 500 words). This letter should outline why you want to join the MS-ITM program, your specific career goals, how they align with the program's focus, and why you will be successful in graduate-level coursework. Your statement will be evaluated on writing quality and clarity, and should be addressed directly to Dr. Lupton.
    • Resume: Submit your most recent resume; you do not need to tailor it to this degree. We want to get a baseline of skills and qualifications for all applicants through the resume. Please know that a lack of IT experience on the resume does not make you ineligible for the degree.

*There are additional requirements for international students, please visit the School of Graduate Studies and Research's website for the full list of requirements.
