BS vs. BAS

The Bachelor of Science (BS) and Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) degrees in Risk, Insurance, and Safety Management (RISM) serve different educational and career paths while delivering a strong foundation in risk management practices.

The BS is designed for students seeking a traditional bachelor's degree, focusing on theoretical knowledge and broad academic preparation, ideal for those entering the field directly or pursuing further graduate studies.

The BAS is tailored for students who have completed an associate's degree in an applied or technical area and have industry experience. This pathway builds on your existing skills with a focus on practical application, providing the tools to advance into leadership and management roles within your chosen industry.
