El Centro Latinx

Latino and Latin American studies (LLAS) is an academic program housed within a broader program of El Centro Latinx at CWU. The goal of LLAS is to help students understand issues pertinent to Latino communities in the United States, the region of Latin America, and the greater global Latino diaspora.

Unique Viewpoints

Go beyond the status quo with one-of-a-kind classes including Mexican Cultural Studies, the only class like it in the Pacific Northwest. Students approach Mexico from a cultural studies standpoint, reflecting on a critical analysis of music, art, literature, indigeneity, race, gender, social organization, and more.

Diversity and Equity Center

The CWU Diversity and Equity Center provides holistic support to students with marginalized identities with cultural programs and social justice workshops that cultivate a sense of belonging and community at CWU and beyond.

Study Abroad

Studying abroad can be a great way to expand your understanding of issues related to Latino and Latin American Studies. Current study abroad opportunities include a study of art and architecture in Mexico City. You can apply some study abroad credits to the LLAS Minor.
