Educational Foundations, BAEd
Your path to enriching the lives of students in the classroom and beyond begins with the Educational Foundations Major
You’ll learn to prepare and deliver lessons to students with a diverse variety of backgrounds, abilities, and languages as well as assess student learning while integrating technology and managing a classroom. Graduates of our program have the flexibility to work in K-8 schools, middle schools, or high schools, maximizing their marketability. Double Major
Educational Foundations students will also complete a double major in the subject they want to teach from a range of majors such as art, early childhood education, history, English, music, physical education and health, special education, family and consumer science, business and marketing, or Spanish.

You’ll learn to prepare and deliver lessons to students with a diverse variety of backgrounds, abilities, and languages. You will also learn how to assess student learning, while integrating technology, and managing a classroom, following Washington State laws.

CWU began as a teaching institution in 1891 and has thousands of graduates teaching across the state and beyond.
Hands-On Experience
A critical component of teaching preparation, all our students participate in student teaching in the field, putting classroom pedagogy into practice. Our graduates are well-prepared for careers in business, government, and advanced study in economics, public policy, or law.
Certification
This major partially satisfies the criteria for a teaching certificate and must be taken concurrently with an endorsement major.
Flexibility
This program has both a designated online only option and an in-person or hybrid option.
Scholarships
The School of Education offers over 30 different scholarships totaling approximately $60,000 per year.
