Research Interests

Dr. Lohse’s research seeks to establish the connection between the chemical composition and the environmental behavior of emerging nanoscale and microscale contaminants, including engineered nanoparticles and microplastics. Current research projects look specifically at the connections between nanoparticle surface chemistry and protein corona formation, the interactions between nanoparticles and natural organic matter, and developing convenient high-throughput strategies to detect and quantify engineered nanoparticles and microplastics in the environment.
