Summer Field Programs

CRM Archaeology Summer Field School

Learn about cultural resource management (CRM) and archaeological and GPR fieldwork. Participate in CRM projects in central Washington State. This in-person field program runs six weeks (full) or three weeks (half), for 6 or 12 credits (quarter system). Meetings are in Ellensburg, and leaving from campus to the field on weekdays. The 2023 dates are June 20-July 7 and July 10-July 28. See the documents below for more details and an application to complete and email to the instructor Dr. Karisa Terry.

Forensic Anthropology Summer Field School:
The Forensic Anthropology Summer Field School will not be held in Summer 2023. Instead, there will be a bioarchaeology field program in Ecuador. The forensic field school is next planned for Summer 2024.

Bioarchaeology in Ecuador Summer Field Course:
Learn bioarchaeology working with excavated, archaeological human remains and enjoy a rich cultural experience in Salango, Ecuador on this three-week course. The 2023 course is from 8/10 to 9/5 for 3 credits (quarter system). See the links below, or contact the instructor Dr. Nicole Jastremski for more information.

Other Summer Courses Online:
In addition to the field courses above, we offer introductory and upper-division courses fully online each summer. These may allow you to complete an anthropology minor 100% online over two summers. The following will be offered asynchronous online in Summer 2023:
