Microsoft Forms offers a simple way to set up contactless attendance in your class. Students will simply scan a QR code from their phone and answer a few simple questions to sign in for your class. The following guide will walk you through how to get started.

Obtain the meeting attendance report as a licensed user
As a licensed user, you have access to reports. Only meetings you've hosted as a licensed user (a paid user type) have reporting available.Note: If a meeting was scheduled before you were licensed, but hosted after the license, then you will have reporting, but scheduling and hosting before the license will have no reporting available.- Sign in to the Zoom web portal.
- In the navigation menu, click Reports.
- Click the Usage Reports tab.<
- Click Usage.
- At the top, use the following functionalities to sort the data by meeting:Search by time range: Select a time range (within a month) using the From and To fields, then click Search. Search by meeting ID: Enter the meeting ID in the search box, then click Search.
- Locate your meeting, then click the participant count (number) under the Participants Source column.A list of internal and external meeting participants will appear. This will show you a list of meeting participants, including join and leave times.
- (Optional) Export the attendee list as a CSV file.
Create a Contactless Attendance Sheet with MS Forms
Rather than passing around paper sign-in sheets to take attendance, digital, contactless attendance can save valuable class time, facilitate grading, and improve academic integrity.
Creating an Attendance Form
- Sign into Microsoft Forms
- Alternatively, you can log into Office.com, look for the Microsoft 365 icons on the left, and then select Forms
- Select + New Form
- Title your form with the name and date of the class, and add an optional description
- Select +Add new to add a new question to your form
- Choose what kind of question you want to add, such as Choice, Text, Rating, or Date.
- For a simple attendance form, use a Text question-type, then type a brief attendance question into the field that appears. Consider the following ideas for attendance questions:
- Ask students to enter their first and last name
- Ask students to enter the “Word of the Day,” then verbally tell students which word is the correct answer
- Ask students to write one key takeaway from the previous lecture
- To add additional questions, click +Add new
- For a simple attendance form, use a Text question-type, then type a brief attendance question into the field that appears. Consider the following ideas for attendance questions:
- Once you are finished creating questions, click Share
- Enable Only people in my organization can respond. This will ensure that students need to log in, thereby preventing duplicate submissions from the same user.
- Select the QR code option, then select Download to save a copy of the QR code to your device
- You may print out the QR code for use in your classroom, or you can add the QR code to your PowerPoint slide deck

Canvas Scheduler in Calendar
Using the Scheduler in the Canvas Calendar, facutly can set appointment groups for students to sign-up to meet. Appointments will display in the Canvas calendar after a student or group has reserved a time slot.

Microsoft Bookings
Creating a personal Bookings page easily allows students to schedule appointments with faculty, during specific times.

New Analytics
Using the New Analytics tool, faculty can identify students who have viewed/not viewed or participated/didn't participate in course activities. Faculty can then easily message students directly in Canvas based on criteria.
