Welcome to the CWU Educational Opportunity Centers!
Overview
The CWU Educational Opportunity Centers (EOC) are funded by a TRIO grant from the U.S. Department of Education to serve participants in North Central and South Central Washington.
The purpose of EOC is to assist individuals enroll in, or re-enter college or a vocational program. We provide participants with information and advising on career decision-making, college admissions, applying for financial aid, or connecting them to community resources.
Eligibility
Participants are evaluated for eligibility on an individual basis. General requirements include the following:
- U.S. Citizen, national or meets the residency requirements for Federal student financial assistance.
- Age 18 or older (High school seniors and high school non-completers not being served by a US Department of Education funded Educational Talent Search program)
- Potential First-generation college student, meaning neither parent has completed a four-year college degree.
- Low Income Individual (based on federal guidelines).
Services
Post-secondary Admissions Assistance
- Information about post-secondary institutions in & out of Washington State
- Assistance with completion of college or vocational/technical admissions forms
- Assistance with transferring to an upper-level college or university
- Discussion about choosing a program of study and course selection
Financial Aid
- Explanation of the financial aid process
- Assistance with completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and any other financial aid forms.
- Information on how to apply for Work-Study
- Information on searching and applying for local, state, and private scholarships and grants
- Information on student loans and assistance with the student loan process
Referrals to Community Organizations
- Assistance with enrolling in Adult Basic Education courses and/or GED program
- Post-secondary education partner
- Other social services
