Policy
(1) CWU Libraries resources are selected to support the instructional, research, and service needs of the Central Washington University community.
(2) Resources included in a request for reconsideration will not be removed automatically from the collections. These resources will be evaluated based on the documented objections. In keeping with the American Library Association’s Library Bill of Rights, library collections should reflect different philosophies and points of view. Appearance of a resource does not mean CWU Libraries advocates or endorses the ideas or statements found in that resource.
(3) Academic Freedom is protected by the Central Washington University Faculty Code and Central Washington University United Faculty of Central Collective Bargaining Agreement.
(4) When a request for reconsideration of resources is submitted, CWU Libraries will take one of the following actions: removal of a resource because it is inappropriate, the addition of a resource to balance the collection by providing alternative views, a combination of the above, or no action at all.
