Your service counts toward your degree

Your military training and experience may already align with college-level learning. Through Academic Credit for Prior Learning, you may be able to apply that experience toward your degree and make faster progress.

How Military Credit Works

Military training and occupations are evaluated using established guidelines to determine how they align with college courses.

Credit may be awarded based on your official military transcript and training record.

What May Qualify

You may be able to receive credit for:

  • Military occupations (MOS, AFSC, ratings)
  • Formal training and coursework
  • Leadership and technical experience

Credit is awarded based on how your training aligns with course outcomes.

How to Get Started

To begin the evaluation process, you will typically:

  • Submit your official military transcript
    • Joint Services Transcript (JST)
    • Community College of the Air Force (CCAF)

You can review this list to get a sense of what credits may come from your transcripts. These credits will be awarded automatically after the Registrar’s office processes your official JST Transcript.

Things to Keep in Mind

  • Credit is based on evaluated military training and roles
  • Not all training may apply to your specific program
  • Credit limits may apply depending on your degree
  • You can also utilize the Portfolio process to have other military experience not included on your military transcript evaluated for credit. See the Programs that Offer ACPL drop down bar to find a program that might fit your military experience.  Contact the faculty advisor listed to get started.
