Associations for Research


Institutional research is commonly done at colleges and universities to provide information for campus decision-makers. Institutional Effectiveness (IE) at CWU is a member of the following Institutional Research organizations.

Association for Institutional Research (AIR)

The Association for Institutional Research (AIR) is the world's largest professional organization for institutional researchers. AIR provides educational resources, best practices, and professional-development opportunities for its more than 4,000 members. The AIR "empowers higher education professionals to leverage data, analytics, information, and evidence to make decisions and take actions that benefit students and institutions and improve higher education."

American Educational Research Association (AERA)

The American Educational Research Association (AERA), founded in 1916, is concerned with improving the educational process by encouraging scholarly inquiry related to education and evaluation and by promoting the dissemination and practical application of research results.

Rocky Mountain Association for Institutional Research (RMAIR)

The Rocky Mountain Association for Institutional Research (RMAIR) is the premier membership organization for higher education professionals in the fields of Institutional Research, Institutional Effectiveness, Assessment, and Accreditation. Established in 1971, the Association includes members from Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.
