Women's Rugby Named College Team of the Year

The Central Washington University women's rugby team has been named the Women's College Team of the Year by ThisIsAmericanRugby.com.

The Wildcats won the TIAR Award over national champion, Penn State University.

"We are honored and grateful for this recognition. The team has worked very hard on and off the field to build a platform for continued success," CWU Head Coach Mel Denham said. "The support from the community, athletic department and university as a whole has been a driving force in the program's success. I am looking forward to see where we go from here."

In the team's first season on the varsity level last year, the Wildcats dominated competition on both 15s and 7s earning berths into both national championship contests.

So far this season the Wildcats a perfect 9-0 and are ranked second in the nation according to Goffrugbyreport.com

The Wildcats will be back in action Feb. 27 when the team travels to Pullman, Wash to battle Washington State University.
